How To Handle Separation Anxiety

It is completely normal for toddlers to experience separation anxiety. Separation anxiety could intensify with the introduction of nursery school. A child may wonder how they will make it through the day without their parent by their side. Below are some ways to help them deal with separation anxiety.

Preparation is Key
Right before your toddler gets on the bus to go to nursery school, tell them what to expect. It is also important to tell your child that they will have fun and learn new things at nursery school.

Tell Your Child Where You Will Be
Separation anxiety can stem from the belief that children will not see their parents. Tell your child that you will be at home or work. That way, they know where you will be. Reassure them that you will see them at the end of the school day.

Small Reminders Make A Big Difference
A small gesture can really make your toddler's day! When a toddler finds a hand written note in their lunchbox, it will comfort them.
