It’s important to teachers at Miss Sue’s to help each child learn at their own pace — since this will instill these core mathematical values into their educational foundation for the years to come.

Top 5 Books Every Child Should Read

One of the most fundamental aspects of Miss Sue’s preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classes is story time. Books have the power and ability to let students use their imaginations, while learning some valuable life lessons, too. The next time you and your child have some free time, instead of watching television, find a comfortable place to sit and read one of these books together:

Book 1: Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
The classic tale about the inevitable friendship between Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the spider is a staple for every child. Disregarding the comments of the other farm animals, Wilbur and Charlotte remain the closest of friends through some difficult circumstances (we don’t want to give any spoilers), and show children the importance of friendship.

Book 2: Curious George by H.A. Rey

Having a knack for curiosity and adventure, Curious George (which has become a series) is the tale of a bubbly chimpanzee and his owner: The Man in the Yellow Hat. When “Yellow Hat” brings George home to the big city for the first time, the chimp is enamored with the busy sights and sounds — and gets into a bit of trouble. The classic tale teaches children to always ask questions and to continue learning, all while obeying the rules.

Book 3: The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss

The world’s most famous cat is still dominating the reading charts! The Cat in the Hat tells the tale of when a talking cat visits two children on a rainy day and shows them a world of fun and adventures! This iconic book teaches kids how to rhyme and develop poetic skills, thanks to the creative writing style of Dr. Seuss.

Book 4: Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne

Known for the wonderful array of characters that inhabit Hundred Acre Wood, Winnie the Pooh is a timeless tale — and one of Disney’s most notable characters! Throughout the adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Pooh Bear teaches children the importance of friendship and teamwork.

Book 5: Corduroy by Don Freeman

Holding a reputation for being the world’s most famous department store bear, Corduroy tells the story of a teddy bear who shoppers refuse to purchase since he’s missing a button. One day, a girl named Lisa spots Corduroy at the store and eventually purchases him — and of course sews the missing button back onto his overalls! This important tale teaches children to make friends and always be kind and accepting of everyone they encounter.
