Ease the Transition From Nursery School to Kindergarten

At Miss Sue's Nursery School, we understand that it can be difficult for a child to transition from nursery school to kindergarten. Luckily, we are here with helpful tips to make the change a little bit easier.
  • Allow your child to express thoughts and feelings about transitioning to kindergarten. You may be able to calm some of their fears.
  • Reassure your child that they will still be able to see their friends from nursery school. After all, play dates are easy to coordinate.
  • Read your child books about kindergarten. That way, they will have an idea of what to expect.
  • Establish an early morning routine with your child prior to attending kindergarten.
  • Go over what a typical day is like.
Our kindergarten program is an extension of our nursery school philosophy. Children continue to work at their own levels in learning centers. More challenging reading and math readiness skills are presented through language experience activities and child-centered investigations. Are you interested in enrolling your child at Miss Sue's? Call 516-938-0894 today to inquire about enrollment.

Incorporating Technology into the Classroom

In today's modern world, there is no way to escape technology. It's everywhere! It has even found its way into nursery schools. Below are some of the benefits your children will reap from being exposed to technology.
  • First and foremost, a computer can be used as a learning tool for young children.
  • Children will also learn how to correctly utilize different types of technological devices.
  • Computer games and puzzles can foster problem solving skills.
  • If children have questions on how the computer works, they can turn to the teacher for an answer.
  • They can also read an interactive book on the computer. In return, this will strengthen their reading skills.
  • Children are encouraged to work independently when they are on the computer. It also allows children to work at their own pace.
At Miss Sue's, our learning centers contain computers and a smart board. We provide your children with technology at an early age so they can succeed in this ever-changing world. That is why we have integrated technology into our curriculum.  Want to learn more about the curriculum at Miss Sue's? If so, please call us at 516-938-0894.
