How To Help Your Child Develop Fine Motor Skills

The first 3 years of your child's life have a big impact on their overall development. After all, this is the time in a young person's life when they start to hone in on fine motor skills. Below are some activities that will help build this skill.

Allow your children to:
  • finger paint
  • assist with simple meal preparation
  • assemble puzzles
  • draw, doodle, or write with pencils or markers
  • play with blocks
  • paint pictures
  • use playdough and clay
  • put pegs into a board
  • play with puppets
  • utilize board games
  • set the table
  • hold the fork and spoon properly
  • clean the table with a sponge
  • open and close containers

Do you want to invest in your child's future? If so, enroll them at Miss Sue's Nursery School. We offer plenty of activities that help improve a child's fine motor skills. Our outdoor facilities were specifically designed to foster muscular coordination and independence. We invite you to visit our school and see our program in action. Please call us for an appointment or with any questions (24 hours/7 days a week) at 516-938-0894.
