At Miss Sue’s Nursery School, our prime educational goal is the development of the whole child — socially, emotionally, physically and educationally. It is a crucial time for them to learn about the world around them. Below are some of the ways in which we encourage and promote development.
Each Child Is Unique
We realize that each child is unique. Each child will have a different set of wants and needs. Personal guidance is given to each child by a team of four teachers in each classroom.
Child's Play Is Important
Some people don't give a lot of thought to the importance of play time. After all, they think children are just playing games. However, these activities are crucial for molding a child's perception. Physical activities help children develop muscular coordination. Other activities may help children develop critical thinking skills.
We Encourage Social Interaction
Nursery school may be the first time your child is exposed to their peers. At Miss Sue's, we understand that it is imperative for children to develop social skills. Our activities that encourage interaction between children include puppet theatre, dramatic play with props and costumes, doll corners, listening centers with records, tapes, CDs and books, rhythm instruments, carpentry and tools, cooking, circle time, games and much more.
Our main goal is to foster creativity and an awareness in the children of the world around them while presenting the social, conceptual and perceptual skills appropriate for each age and stage of each child’s development. If you are interested in enrolling your child at Miss Sue's, call 516-938-0894 today.

Healthy Lunch Ideas
Some children are naturally picker eaters. It can be especially difficult to prepare a healthy and delicious lunch for them. Below are some healthy lunches that children will love!
Bento Box Style
Treat small plastic containers like a small bento box for your child. Just fill it with their favorite vegetables or fruits. Viola! The perfect snack is served.
Mix It Up with Trail Mix
If your child likes raisins, this idea is sure to be a hit. Just pour some trail mix in a small container. Since trail mix is packed with protein, your toddler will have all the energy they need to take on the day.
Delicious Dips
Does your child like to munch on healthy dips like hummus or black-bean salsa? If so, pack the dip of choice with carrots, string beans or sticks of celery. Since they should not be sharing their snacks with others, they are free to double dip til their heart's content!
We hope that these lunches appeal to even the pickiest eater. If your child is ready for nursery school, choose Miss Sue's! We provide a safe environment, the best care, the best attention, the best education available and we definitely provide the most fun! Please call us for an appointment or with any questions (24 hours/7 days a week) at 516-938-0894.

Fun Indoor Activities
It's still winter! That can only mean one thing--no outdoor activities. Don't fret, there are plenty of fun games to play indoor. Below are some of our favorite indoor activities.
Circle Time
At Miss Sue's, we have Circle Time each day. During Circle Time, children learn about a new skill or activity. It is a very interactive part of the day that unleashes the imagination.
Story Time
We understand that reading to young children is extremely important to their overall development. Our teachers love reading stories to the children. It is educational and fun at the same time!
