The Importance of Early Childhood Education

When children do not attend nursery school, they will not be prepared for kindergarten. Attending nursery school helps set the tone for their educational career. If you want your child to succeed, enrolling at Miss Sue's is a must. Below are some additional reasons why early childhood education is important.

Children Who Attend Nursery School:
  • Develop strong relationships with their peers.
  • Become accustomed with the structure of formal schooling.
  • Experience less problematic behaviors.
  • Have better academic outcomes.
  • Achieved math and language excellence.
  • Exhibit problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Nursery School Is The Key To Success Later In Life
Studies have been conducted to determine the long term effects of attending nursery school. In the Perry Preschool Project, they found that children who attended nursery school were more likely to earn more money, hold a steady job and more likely to graduate from high school.

At Miss Sue's Nursery School, we go to great lengths to provide your children the best education available. That's why we have been voted the "Best Nursery School" for the past six years! The Importance of the First Three Years

Did you know that children learn more information in the first 3 years? Research has shown that preschool children process new information faster than in any other time in their lives. Below are some of the things your child will learn in the first 3 years.

Speech Development
As toddlers grow and develop, they begin to talk. This is also known as speech development. At Miss Sue's Nursery School, we encourage speech development by teaching the class different words and by reading books. That way, they will have a more advanced vocabulary.

Motor Skills
It is also important for toddlers to develop motor skills and improve their hand-eye coordination. Our outdoor facilities were specifically designed to foster muscular coordination and independence.

Social Skills
Nursery school might be the first time toddlers interact with their peers. This gives them the opportunity to socialize with one another. It is crucial for toddlers to develop social skills.

The first 3 years of your child's life have a big impact on their overall development. You need to trust these special years to a superior nursery school. If you want to invest in your child's future, choose Miss Sue's Nursery School. Call 516-938-0894 today to inquire about enrollment.

Teaching Children To Play Cooperatively

We understand how important social skills are for young children. Nursery school provides children with their first opportunity to socialize with their peers. Social skills can be learned through our interactive activities. We always encourage children to play cooperatively.

Partner Up
At Miss Sue's Nursery School, we provide different games and activities that require each child to have a partner. Not only does this foster social skills, but it teaches children how to work together. This shows children how to be a team player and work toward a common goal.

The More, The Merrier
It is easy to see that two minds are better than one. Playtime is no exception to this rule of thumb. When children cooperate with one another, they'll accomplish more than they would be able to on their own. It's a win-win situation for everyone!

Playtime is necessary for children because they are playful by nature. We believe in a multi-sensory approach to learning that is provided through play. Playing with other children will also help them develop social skills and teaches them the concept of teamwork. Are you looking for a nursery school on Long Island? How We Encourage Children To Express Themselves

At Miss Sue's Nursery School, we understand that each child is unique. We also realize that each child will express their thoughts, feelings and emotions in different ways. Below are some of the ways we encourage self-expression.

Expression Through The Arts
We introduce the arts to children at a young age. That way, they can express themselves in a healthy way. We let the children experiment with art through easel and finger painting, paper mache, clay, and playdough. Children are exposed to theater through puppet theater and dramatic play. Last but certainly not least, the children listen to music and play with rhythm instruments.

Allow Children To Discover Their Interests
There are so many activities for children to choose from at Miss Sue's. Children are exposed to crafts, computers, games, books and sports. We understand that each child will favor certain activities more than others. We always encourage children to pursue activities that they genuinely enjoy.

Our prime educational goal is the development of the whole child — socially, emotionally, physically and educationally. A multi-sensory, wholistic approach to learning is provided through play, art, music and physical activities. If you are interested in enrolling your child at Miss Sue's, call 516-938-0894 today.

How Miss Sue's Encourages Development

At Miss Sue’s Nursery School, our prime educational goal is the development of the whole child — socially, emotionally, physically and educationally. It is a crucial time for them to learn about the world around them. Below are some of the ways in which we encourage and promote development.

Each Child Is Unique
We realize that each child is unique. Each child will have a different set of wants and needs. Personal guidance is given to each child by a team of four teachers in each classroom.

Child's Play Is Important
Some people don't give a lot of thought to the importance of play time. After all, they think children are just playing games. However, these activities are crucial for molding a child's perception. Physical activities help children develop muscular coordination. Other activities may help children develop critical thinking skills.

We Encourage Social Interaction
Nursery school may be the first time your child is exposed to their peers. At Miss Sue's, we understand that it is imperative for children to develop social skills. Our activities  that encourage interaction between children include puppet theatre, dramatic play with props and costumes, doll corners, listening centers with records, tapes, CDs and books, rhythm instruments, carpentry and tools, cooking, circle time, games and much more.

Our main goal is to foster creativity and an awareness in the children of the world around them while presenting the social, conceptual and perceptual skills appropriate for each age and stage of each child’s development. If you are interested in enrolling your child at Miss Sue's, call 516-938-0894 today.
