Signs Your Child Is Ready for Kindergarten

A lot of parents are unsure of what age to put their child in kindergarten. It is important to remember that the every child is different. Instead of focusing on their age, assess whether or not your child is ready for kindergarten. Below are some indications that your child is prepared.
  • Potty Trained- Children who are entering kindergarten should be potty trained. That way, children will be able to use the bathroom on their own.
  • Language Skills- It is not necessary for children to know every letter of the alphabet. However, they should be able to recognize a majority of letters.
  • Social Skills- Does your child play well with others? If so, it will only make the transition from nursery school to kindergarten even smoother.
  • Motor Skills- Can your child throw a ball or hold a pencil correctly? These are both signs that your child has the motor skills needed to excel in kindergarten.
Our kindergarten program is an extension of our nursery school philosophy. Children continue to work at their own levels in learning centers. More challenging reading and math readiness skills are presented through language experience activities and child-centered investigations. Are you interested in enrolling your child at Miss Sue's?
